Meet PolePilot, IKE’s automated assistant that annotates pole imagery and detects attachment heights.

BROOMFIELD, COLO., Oct. 7, 2025 – ikeGPS (IKE), a leading provider of data acquisition and analysis solutions for overhead power and communication networks, proudly announces the launch of PolePilot™, a new automated assistant for utility pole data analysis.

Powered by IKE’s advanced AI/ML algorithms and image recognition capabilities, PolePilot is designed to accelerate common tasks involving overhead asset data. Now available within IKE Office Pro, IKE’s leading pole data management solution, PolePilot automatically detects and annotates equipment and heights of attachments on utility poles, including power and communications lines, transformers and streetlights. By applying computer vision models designed with IKE’s expertise in pole imagery, PolePilot materially reduces the time and costs required to annotate pole equipment, human error, data inconsistencies and onboarding time for new analysts.

This development expands on the strength of IKE’s intelligent automation capabilities, which include automated applications for double wood detection and joint-use ticket management. Future applications of PolePilot’s process automation capabilities are planned across the IKE overhead asset management suite.

“Analyzing pole imagery can be a time-consuming process, especially when faced with numerous or complex attachments, large volumes of poles to process and varying experience levels of analysts,” says IKE Senior Vice President of Product Brett Willitt. “PolePilot for IKE Office Pro helps jumpstart the detection and annotation work, removing friction from the process, saving time and improving consistency.”

IKE conducted a beta program with users to test PolePilot’s accuracy, efficiency and usability in real-life utility industry use cases. Program participants achieved faster pole annotation and improved consistency during the beta testing period. They identified additional benefits, including accelerated training and QC processes and optimized display and reporting of data.

Matthew Carroll of Linetec Services, one of the PolePilot beta program testers, commented, “PolePilot helps improve consistency in the HOA tagging process. It will help speed up the QC process as well as onboard new hires that may not have as much industry experience.”

IKE Insight’s new modules deliver intelligent automation for double wood detection and joint-use notifications

BROOMFIELD, COLO. – [Sept. 25, 2024] –ikeGPS (IKE), a leading provider of data acquisition and analysis solutions for overhead power and communication networks, proudly announces the next generation of IKE Insight, its AI-powered analytics solution designed for utility poles.

The release expands on the strength of IKE’s utility-centric data and analytics capabilities with two new applications of IKE Insight – Double Wood Detective and Joint-Use Ticket Automation.

IKE Insight transforms public and private network data into actionable insights on utility poles and automates common tasks that are manual, time-consuming, error prone and expensive.

The new IKE Insight modules were designed with electric utilities, communications companies and their engineering service providers to accelerate common processes – double wood inspections and joint-use ticketing. IKE Insight uses intelligent automation to assess disparate data and imagery, identify pole infrastructure and deliver network-level and pole-specific insights.

IKE Insight’s new modules:

  • Double Wood Detective:
IKE’s system identifies or validates double wood instances at a network-level without an in-field visit. By delivering accurate records, it helps address an important public and worker safety concern and insurance liability.
  • Joint-Use Ticket Automation:
The IKE system revolutionizes National Joint Utilities Notification System (NJUNS) ticket creation and delivery by eliminating manual data entry and human error. Ideal for maintenance, relocation, new construction and safety/compliance projects, IKE Insight leverages advanced natural language capabilities to seamlessly reconcile large, disparate, inconsistent data sets and efficiently populate NJUNS ticket fields.

“Many aspects of power and communication network management are time and labor intensive. At IKE, we’re leveraging two decades of industry expertise in pole data acquisition and structural analysis to help utilities and communications companies reduce time and money spent on manual tasks and gain actionable insights from their assets,” says IKE Senior Vice President of Product Brett Willitt. “These insights can help you make better decisions and stay ahead of the curve on key industry objectives such as asset maintenance and safety inspections.”

“NJUNS was created with a singular purpose: Enabling efficient utility communication,” said NJUNS Executive Director Angie Weaver. “Tracking and communicating joint-use workflows is a challenge, whether it’s for pole transfers, joint trench construction, pole attachments or other large projects. Solutions that help improve data accuracy and remove bottlenecks in these complicated processes can be a game changer.”

The newest iteration of the industry-standard software includes enhanced features while retaining its intuitive interface and reputation for defendable data.

BROOMFIELD, COLORADO – [Oct. 18, 2023] – ikeGPS (IKE), a leading provider of grid infrastructure data acquisition and analysis tools for electric utilities, communications companies, and engineering firms in the U.S., proudly announces the release of IKE PoleForeman structural analysis software.

The software builds on PoleForeman’s twenty-two-year-old reputation for allowing users to conduct defendable pole load analysis that complies with or exceeds National Electrical Safety Code (NESC) standards for overhead pole line design.

Invented by IKE’s Senior VP of Structural Analysis Malcolm Young in the early 2000s, PoleForeman has become one of the most widely used structural analysis software programs for designing and maintaining overhead power distribution pole lines in the industry.  PoleForeman is trusted by many of the largest communications companies and seven of the ten largest investor-owned electric utilities in the US.

IKE PoleForeman adds multiple-pole analysis, enhanced 3D graphics, 2023 NESC, a secure modern code base, and a self-administered database admin portal, as well as other exciting features and enhancements.

The software’s release comes as the grid modernizes and the industry seeks to optimize investments in pole assets while complying with the 2023 NESC, ensuring the highest levels of safety to protect workers, facilities, and the public during the installation, operation, and maintenance of communication and supply infrastructure.

Chief Engineer of Distribution Engineering for one of the nation’s largest engineering firms [TRC Companies]  Scott G Gudeman believes the new software will be a boon to his organization’s productivity, “The added functionality of IKE PoleForeman will reduce the time it takes to analyze poles, making us more efficient.”

“The current explosion of broadband internet and the subsequent joint use attachment requests along with storm hardening requirements means utilities, engineering firms, and communication companies bear an even greater burden designing the system. ,” says IKE PoleForman’s creator Malcolm Young. “IKE’s structural analysis software is an indispensable tool for those who are engineering tomorrow’s grid.”
